The Vertical Turning Center is built with a generously proportioned polymer casting base section and a heavy duty cast iron column which provides superior vibration dampening qualities. This allows for increased table rotational speeds and effective machining of tough materials using the latest cutting tool technologies.

  • The crossrail is boxed shaped, well ribbed casting which is secured on the top of the column. The left side of the crossrail houses the X-axis servo drive motor which drives the 3.15" pre-loaded ballscrew via a timing belt with a 2:1 ratio.
  • The ram head moves along the hardened box ways (44HRC on the front and 59HRC on the top and back) of the crossrail.
  • Rotary encoders mounted on the motors are used for positional feedback to the control. The machine is also equipped with HEIDENHAIN linear encoders.
  • FANUC 18i-TA control and AC table and feed motors with digital drives.
  • 12-position automatic tool changer. The rotary carousel is driven by a hydraulic motor and positively located by a taper pin for each location. The tools are protected from chips and coolant while in the carousel by steel covers and a retractable door.
