The Olympia HF300x140 Horizontal High-Speed Machining Center has been developed to provide accurate and productive machining of aircraft structural parts Nose Cones. This is accomplished by adding a fast and versatile 2-axis CNC contouring head with interchangeable spindle cartridges to our traditional 3-axes horizontal machining center. This innovative design provides the utmost in machine uptime and versatility through quick changing of spindles to respond to changing work demands and spindle life considerations.

The ram is equipped with a 2-axis high- speed motorized spindle head (A and C-axes). The spindle head is provided with manually changeable cartridges. Two different cartridges can be applied – a high speed cartridge (15,000-18,000 RPM) for high speed milling and grinding, and “low speed” (6,000- 8,000 RPM), high torque cartridge – for conventional milling/ drilling.

The table and column bases are made of machine tool grade castings. The machine’s robust design provides superior vibration dampening characteristics to allow heavier cutting, improved surface finish, accuracy, and tool life to accommodate the demands of High Speed Machining (HSM).

The column is secured to the column saddle, and linear roller guide ways provide accurate motion of the saddle and column left-to-right (X-axis). The rack and double pinion transmission system is used for backlash-free operation.
- The column’s vertical linear roller guide ways provide the ram saddle travels up and down (Y-axis). The ram travels in-and-out (Z-axis). Travels of the ram and ram saddle are accomplished by pre-loaded, precision ball screws of 80mm in diameter.

All linear guide ways (X, Y, Z) are protected by telescopic type steel way covers. The machine is equipped with full cutting area enclosure.
